Quote: This really caught my eye, I love the shadows and the monochromatic scheme make the blue eyes stand out, and her eyes have a mysterious look, that makes them the center of attention. Also gorgeous work on the hair, and all this is mouse-painted! This once deserves the 1st place crown ^_^.

Quote: I like the color pallete in this one, it gives the wall a vintage feeling. Like the merge of pencil+digital. The movement of the scales gives a ice touch. Altough the shadows as you mentioned in you description, are a bit plan, but bits just to explore some shadow techniques.

I like how you placed the blue eyes, but I'm not sure about how relevant they are, the main point of the wall is the girl, not the blue eyes. Overall its a very well done composition that went a bit off the theme.

Personal Note: When I was ranking these pieces I was looking for artwork in which the eyes really drew you in. I wanted to be wow-ed by the eyes, not just have them be blue as an afterthought.

Quote: When I first saw the image for this one I thought it was supposed to be an anime version of Marilyn Monroe. I was initially torn between this one and Aozora's for the top spot on my list, but I feel like with the monochrome/colorsplash-- mirtillo's piece really captured the theme perfectly.

Quote: While I think the overall piece is nicely done and very romantic, I think that the blue eye is a little bit TOO subtle here. When put against such a bright color like yellow (the hair, setting sun) I feel the blue got a bit washed out.

1. Spring - Kotekigo

Quote: It's really clean, with no slippages in colour! I have to say, simply black lineart is not my thing, but the effect for this piece is tidy and anime-like. Overall, a nicely cleaned up and quite faithfully done reconstruction of the scan.

2. Cherry Blossom Spring - Hitsu-chan

Quote: With the spring-like colour scheme and the cute couple, the overall effect is very sweet and spring-like. I rather enjoy the soft combination of lineart and colouring here, it just works somehow. My nitpicks, if you would want them, is that you used black to outline parts of their faces which takes away a little from the otherwise soft lineart; and also bits of slippages with the red edges of the lace. Other than that, it's honestly a lovely piece and I like this cute style. :)

3. Spring Breeze - aIshiroi

Quote: The only non-CLAMP submission lol. First off, I really like the blurry shading and how you rendered Gokudera's eyes - the shiny effect is lovely! The colours are also nice and warm~ What cuts points though, is how very stark the lineart is against the soft colouring - it's a bit too contrasting at fullview, at least to my eyes. ^^;

Quote: Technique-wise, it seems a bit too obviously inconsistent, with some parts having lineart and some without. Also, it appears to me that it would have looked smoother with shape layers for the lines instead of using brush properties like 'fade' or none at all.. It makes it look a bit awkward. Still, the colouring is quite nice, as always. :)
